Our History

Agro Commodities Ltd was founded in 2006 and contributed to prevent the famine that loomed over Europe.

Agro Commodities Ltd is intended to be used in the production of carbon-neutral fertilizer products, decarbonizing the food value chain, and also has potential as a future climate-neutral shipping fuel.

Green ammonia manufacturing process

Agro Commodities Ltd is produced using CO2 free energy sources

Agro Commodities Ltd production makes use of renewable energy sources such as hydro-electric, solar power or wind turbines.

Unlike “brown” ammonia, which is made using fossil fuels (typically natural gas) as the feedstock, the raw materials for Agro Commodities Ltd are hydrogen obtained through the electrolysis of water, a process powered by renewable energy sources, and nitrogen obtained from the air using an air separation unit. Green ammonia can then be synthesized from nitrogen and hydrogen via various methods, with the Haber-Bosch process currently the only method used on a commercial scale.

Global Production And Distributions

Agro Commodities Ltd is a truly international company, with production, sales and services, research and support operations in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia. Joint ventures have also taken us into new markets and our growth is ongoing.

Global Leaders In Crop Nutrients Industry

Agro Commodities Ltd mines, produces and distributes millions of tonnes of high quality potash and phosphates products each year. Without fertilizers, the world’s crop yields would be cut in half, and farmers around the world look to Agro Commodities Ltd to help keep their soils healthy, to nourish their crops and to maximize their yields. We are committed to meeting these needs responsibly and sustainably—with deep respect for the land and genuine concern for those who depend on its output.

“In this journey, we believe that farmers are key and Agro Commodities Ltd is a partner they can count on to produce food in Africa in the most sustainable way”

Putting Farm To Fork Into Action

As guardians of the soil, farmers have passed on to future generations knowledge of how to nurture the land they farm. By supporting farmers with digital tools and advice on smart, sustainable farming practices, we can help them further optimize crop yields, produce healthier crops and protect the soil, while also reducing their carbon footprint. This will benefit not only farmers but also the entire food value chain – from consumers who want access to healthy and sustainable food to food companies meeting consumer needs and their own climate pledges. The good news is that farmers are embracing new technologies and new ways of farming – and many solutions for achieving Farm to Fork already exist. A holistic approach is the best way forward:

Spearheading A More Sustainable Food System

The world needs to grow 40 percent more food by 2050 using less land, optimizing yields, and emitting fewer greenhouse gas emissions. That means changing the way we treat our land, grow our crops, and produce our food. The European Green Deal and Farm to Fork Strategy put USA as a frontrunner in transforming the global food industry by setting several aspirational goals to make our food system fair, healthy and environmentally friendly. For these aspirations to become a reality, the entire food chain must collaborate. We will play our part by capitalizing on our knowledge of crop nutrition, farmers and markets to develop innovative solutions that also benefit society, just as we have for over a century. We’re ready to put Farm to Fork into action.

SOIL MATTERS

Agro Commodities Ltd takes a long-term view on soil health. By providing farmers with tools and services enabling precise and balanced nutrient management in combination with suitable fertilizer products, we help them preserve and improve the fertility and health of their soils, a benefit that carries forward to future generations. Over a century of crop nutrition research, mineral fertilizer manufacturing and distribution, have shown us that an integrated approach to soil health management is needed to ensure the long-term productivity of agriculture.

We provide science-based advice on specific, localized nutrient requirements for a large range of crops, as well as decision support systems for farmers. Imbalanced crop nutrition is one of the major drivers of soil degradation. Optimal farming practices should address liming requirements and incorporate the use of organic materials available at the farm, in combination with complementing mineral fertilizer guided by precision farming technology.

Agro Commodities Ltd supports the UN Global Compact’s Principles for Sustainable Soil Management through a commitment to global soil health that is underpinned by stakeholder partnerships, the promotion of improved soil management and the inclusion of soil health in strategic and operational planning, as suggested by UN Global Compact.

Our current engagement in soil health includes the following activities:

  • General Crop Nutrition: Agro Commodities Ltd provides fertilizers containing all required macro-and micronutrients, tailored for different crops and conditions.
